I’ve been fascinated by media for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I paid attention not only to television news, but also to how it was presented, promoted and branded, even the commercials surrounding it. I started working in television news when I was 15, and that curiosity has never really gone away.
Over the years, I’ve worked across many different kinds of content, including newscasts, travel programming and documentaries. My work eventually expanded into the business and marketing side of media. Today, part of my role is connecting editorial content with commercial opportunities, helping develop sponsorship solutions that align a client’s values with completely independent editorial content.
I tend to reverse engineer almost everything I consume. My father was a civil engineer and approached the world by understanding how things worked and how they were put together. I think I inherited some of that instinct, except instead of bridges and structures, I’ve spent much of my life doing it with media.
Why did they do that? Who are they trying to reach? Why did it work? Where is the market going next?
Those questions are part of what led me here. I’m not approaching the U.S. Latino market as someone who has figured it all out. I’m approaching it with the same curiosity I’ve brought to media throughout my career. I want to look at what’s happening, talk to interesting people, question assumptions and try to understand where things may be going.
This website is where I get to do some of that thinking out loud.
